Protect Your Trademarks From The New .XXX Domain

A new generic top level domain (gTLD), .XXX, has been approved for websites featuring adult content. It will be available to the general public starting December 6, 2011.

In order to protect your trademark from being used by an unauthorized third party for an adult entertainment website, you can file an “opt-out” application with participating domain name registrars. The "opt-out" period ends on October 28, 2011.

Your “opt-out” application will prohibit anyone else from registering "yourtrademark.xxx.”
